As part of our new partnership with Innovos Robotics, we spent last Saturday at the College of Business on the Long Beach State campus exposing our student-athletes to the world of robotics…. how to design, build and program robots to compete in FIRST Robotics Competitions. First is an organization that uses a sports-like competition atmosphere to entice young people to study science, technology, and engineering. The students learn everything from mechanical engineering to leadership and teamwork.
Jeff’s Team 6499 competes head to head on a special playing field with robots they design, build and program. Our goal is to work with Jeff and his team to create an Innovos competition team made up of our BOSS student-athletes. Engaging our youngsters in exciting, mentor-based programming that builds science, engineering and technology skills, and inspires innovation, fosters well-rounded life capabilities, including self-confidence, communication and leadership development, is just another way we are inspiring our boys to be science and technology savvy from a young age.
The highlight of the morning’s session was a demonstration of the different robots created and built by Team 6499. We’re exciting about our new partnership and look forward to our youngsters gaining more exposure to robotics as part of our 2018 BOSS camp set for July 16-27 th.
