A group of 12 BOSS™ student athletes, our “travel team” if you will, were guests of the Dodgers’ regional broadcast network, (Spectrum) SportsNet LA for the Dodgers’ game against the KC Royals on Sunday, July 9, 2017. The boys were treated to a “behind the scenes” experience at Dodgers Stadium that coincided with the Dodgers’ Corey Seager Replica Bat Day.
First up was a trip to the broadcast booth, where the boys joined Dodgers’ former Cy Young winner and last World Series MVP Orel Hershiser for an up close and personal look at what is required to move from the playing field to the press box. We then moved to the field where the boys joined former MLB great Nomar Garciaparra and his co-host Alana Rizzo for the Dodgers’ pre-game show and learned more about the transition from sports to the real world.
After a tour of iconic Dodgers Stadium, that included a chance meeting with former Dodgers manager Tommy Lasorda, the boys settled in the Spectrum suite and enjoyed another Clayton Kershaw gem against the Royals. Each boy also received a replica of the bat Seager used in his Rookie of the Year performance in 2016 courtesy of McDonalds.
A good (and informative) time was had by all. BOSS.
